For years, “Baranagar” situated on the bank of holy river ‘Ganges’ is known to be a seat of spiritual culture which has always attracted great Philosophers, Saints and many others to live here and meditate for achieving Divine end. Thakur Ramkrishna Paramhansadev, Swami Vivekananda, Swami Shibananda Sarawati Yogacharya etc. are only some of them who loved to stay over here, where the gentle breeze from the ganges carries flavour and fragrance of spiritualism.

Along with this spiritual development, ‘Baranagar’ also nursed and developed a culture on Astrology and allied subjects for the long time. The astrologers, the then, used to hold mutual discussions and private seminars etc. amongst themselves but the same was not organized and were held on private / individual attemts.

At this Juncture, Pandit Moloy Shastri, took the initiative to organize these Astrologers and bring them under the umbrella of an organized Society. This is how the ‘World Astrological Society’ was formed and registered on 11th January 2000, at dawn of the 21st century, at 5/F, Shyamacharan Maitra Lane, Baranagar, Kolkata.

Pandit Moloy Shastri is the founder President of the Society and is the main source of inspiration for the members of the Society. His profound knowledge, experience and continuous guidance helped the ‘Society’ to grow and reach the present stage.
